Robert Ostfeld, MD MSc FACC, a cardiologist, is the Director of Preventive Cardiology, and the Founder and Director of the Cardiac Wellness Program, at Montefiore Health System, and an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  He received his Masters of Science in Epidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health, and his MD from Yale University School of Medicine, and he is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Echocardiography.

Dr. Ostfeld has authored or co-authored dozens of articles about cardiovascular disease, and several about the relationship between periodontal disease and atherosclerosis, in peer-reviewed scientific journals.  He has also served as a reviewer for 5 such journals, and as an editorial board member for two.  He has earned the Outstanding Full Time Attending of the Year award at Montefiore for excellence in teaching medical residents, and the Program Director’s Award for dedicated service on behalf of the Montefiore-Einstein Cardiology Fellowship, and was elected to the Leo M. Davidoff Society at Einstein for outstanding achievement in the teaching of medical students.

Patients enrolled at the Montefiore Einstein Cardiac Wellness Program are experiencing dramatic improvements in their health, via making some key diet and lifestyle changes under the care and guidance of the program’s experts.  Many of these patients who had been diagnosed with heart or blood vessel disease, are losing weight, lowering their cholesterol and blood pressure, improving their energy levels and even reversing type 2 diabetes.  The program brings a unique nutrition-centered approach to the management of cardiovascular disease, aiming to prevent and reverse heart disease with a whole-food plant-based diet.

We are grateful for Dr. Ostfeld having served on the Board of Directors of Plant-based Prevention Of Disease, Inc. for its first two years.
