Joseph Gonzales, RDN LDN, is the Nutrition Consultant for Blue Cure Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to prostate cancer awareness.  He is responsible for developing and promoting educational nutrition content, and conducts research on how diet relates to men’s health and cancer risk, translating the research into recipes and useful everyday tips.  He draws upon extensive prior experience working with study participants in clinical research settings, guiding them through healthful dietary changes with potentially powerful impact.

Mr. Gonzales previously served as Nutrition Director for the nonprofit NutritionFacts.org, and also as Research Dietitian for the Comprehensive Lifestyle Change Study of MD Anderson Cancer Center and its Integrative Medicine Program.  He served nearly 4 years as Staff Dietitian for Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, and during that time was lead dietitian for its Clinical Research Division.  He was principal investigator for its Dietary Changes Study about cancer risk, and drafted the earliest nutrition guidelines for the Cancer Project.  He previously provided dietetics and health program coordination services in a very wide variety of community program settings in multiple locations.

Mr. Gonzales is the E-Mentorship Program Coordinator for the Vegetarian Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and served for 3 years as its Nominating Committee Chair.  He has published several studies on plant-based nutrition and cancer, type 2 diabetes, and weight loss.  He is the lead author of “Applying the Precautionary Principle to Nutrition and Cancer”, published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, and is a co-author of 2 articles in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition about worksite-based lifestyle interventions to reduce body weight and cardiovascular risk.
